Requirements

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse with  Midwifery. 

  • At least 2 - 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse with relevant Paediatric Ward experience - is required. 

  • Additional Post Basic Diploma in Child Nursing Science Highly advantageous • Compliance with SANC code of practice for a Registered Nurse

  • Must be willing to work shifts in accordance with the requirements of the unit.

  • Exhibits full responsibility for own work outputs. 


  • Must be computer literate.


Responsibilities

  • Maintaining all aspects of patient care and responsibilities in a Paediatric Ward.

  • Participate in the ward quality improvement programmes to ensure a therapeutic and safe patient environment. 

  • Strong leadership acumen (shift leading) 

  • Must be able to work efficiently under pressure. 

  • Maintains a therapeutic, clean, and safe environment that is free from medicolegal hazards. 

  • Executes procedures according to the hospital’s standards and complies with legal requirements. 

  • Provide and supervise the delivery of evidence-based nursing care.

  • Competent in the demonstration and assessment of all clinical procedures and  management of risks 

  • The ability to identify and report near-misses and adverse events.

  • The ability to display sound judgement in problem- -analysis and solving.

  • Basic knowledge of stock control principles 

  • Maintains a customer–focused mindset that acknowledges the value of the customer.
